Re: Can't upload anymore! |
ok, working with another engr. here, able to simulate both typical kinds of 8080 port blocking (DENY / stall and REJECT / immed. send "no dice" to client).
my dev box is able to suggest a workaround for both for when the user goes to the "http editor" (only to find their org. is blocking port 8080).
i'm going to do some more testing and QA and then start the steps to get this multipart fix live... hoping by EOD...

Excellent, thanks.
Just in case, hoping you'll continue to keep the FTP upload ability just in case it doesn't work out well for some of us. :-)

Re: Can't upload anymore! |
ok, the fixes should be live now.
you *should* be able to use the updated [share] button now to create items (with a browser like firefox and flash installed) even with non-port80 blocked.

Re: Can't upload anymore! |
OK -- just tried and it was a lot better than before -- the "Share" button is clickable, i.e. gets past the spinning circle, it turns into a Flash SHARE button, but when I press the Share button and the file selection popup comes, I can select my files, and click "OK" or whatever, which is good. But then things take a wrong turn -- the uploader's attempts to send my files all immediately report "Security Error".
Let me know if there's anything I can do to help diagnose.
Thanks!

Re: Can't upload anymore! |
Ha! Thanks. Well I've got nothing to upload at the moment (rare for me as I've uploaded 205 unique concerts [though some have both 16 & 24 bit versions] to the LMA all since last June...)
I'll have something soon enough to test.

Re: Can't upload anymore! |
oh, and for now, we aren't planning to drop FTP for new item creation
anytime in the forseeable future (we're hoping it gets used less and less over time but no plans to disable 8-) )

I Don't Prefer Flash & I Don't Prefer using a browser to upload with.... It's just wrong. I prefer tried & true FTP without flashes & bells & whistles...

Re: Can't upload anymore! |
You have to fake it out as there's no link for LMA FTP currently. Here's what you need to do. On the FTP page here:
http://www.archive.org/create.php?ftp=1enter the identifier of your fileset like:
bandname2009-08-29.flac16
Press "create item". Then in your browser, you will come to a new page with a URL like:
http://www.archive.org/create.php?ftp=1&identifier=abcdef1234
Add the code:
&lma=1
to the end of that URL so it will look like:
http://www.archive.org/create.php?ftp=1&identifier=abcdef1234&lma=1
and everything will be just like before.

Re: Can't upload anymore! |
Glad to be of service. A little hack here and there never hurt anyone. ;-)
Actually, I am liking the new way of uploading. I was a hardcore FTP person, but the newly-fixed upload (after my complaint) seems to be working like a charm for me

Re: Can't upload anymore! |
Hey man, I can't upload anymore. I'm on Linux and upload via FTP. HD video transfers always fail in the last three weeks.
http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=marco_xWhat am I supposed to do?

Re: Can't upload anymore! |
Is there a way to get back to the FTP upload page once a show has been uploaded & you need to change or add files?
The NEW one just spins its lil wheels & doesn't tell me if there's any real progress? & the flash one just times out every time...
